Back in 1978 while a member of the 11th Aviation group Pathfinder Platoon in Germany , I was invited to attend the #4 French Commando school. I had a few connections at the school and could (at the time) speak passable french.
The school was 3 weeks long and covered all of the subjects a Commando should know. What I remember most though was the food served in the chow hall and the 24 hour ration packs we were issued. Also the odd things we were given like raw bacon, and bar chocolate in french bread.
Coolest of all though were the different weapons we were trained and qualified on. Everything from the MAS 49/56 on down to the Browning pistol.
