Quick fix shovel handle
As you all know from a previous post. One of my students at the Jack
Mountain Bushcraft school managed to break the handle on his Spetznas
shovel while using it to limb a pine tree.
Anyway, keeping that in mind , I took my own Russian shovel out to the woods to see if I could make a new handle for it using only my Swiss Army Knife. I located a suitable green Live oak branch and cut it off with my SAK saw, then it was only a matter of cutting/whittling it to shape. I didn’t measure anything, just eye balled it.
This whole process took only about 10 minutes. I in fact like my quicky handle better than the original.
