A Quick trip through Thailand and Laos

Last week my lady friend Vanessa and me were sitting around our place in Phnom penh feeling a bit bored.  We decided to take a quick trip from PP to Bangkok, then catch a train to Vientien, Lao PDR. From Lao we flew back to Phnom Penh. it was a good trip and done fairly cheap. Vanessa had never been to BKK, ridden a train or been to Lao PDR so this trip was especially enjoyable for her.

We both had a good time in Bangkok exploring my old stomping grounds, The 13 hour train trip north was a bit tiring but we endured. Both of us found that Lao PDR was expensive and boring. There was nothing to do except go to a few sleezy bars along the river. We also found that food, hotels and transportation were more than in Bangkok.
Laos is definitely off my list of SE Asia destinations.
